What exactly are chakras?
The word “chakra” means “wheel of light” in Sanskrit. The concept originates from Hindu and Buddhist spiritual traditions which view chakras as energy centers or portals in one’s body. The term chakra means wheel for a good reason- each one spins like a vertex generating energy that flows along your spine. These centers help regulate our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Even if one of them is weak or blocked, your whole system will become disrupted. From the base of your spine to the crown of your head, each chakra has its own quality and role to play. 1. Muladhara Chakra – Root Chakra
Color: Red
Element: Earth
Meaning: Laying the foundation, creating something new, Physical Identity, stability, grounding.
Location: The Root Chakra, also known as the Muladhara Chakra, is located at the base of the spine, between the anus and the genitals. It is characterized by the emotions of survival, stability, ambition, and self-sufficiency.
Symptoms of a blocked Root Chakra: Feeling unstable, ungrounded, lack of ambition, lack of purpose, fear, insecurity (especially about finances or basic needs), and frustration. Physical issues may include arthritis, constipation, bladder, or colon problems.
